1. How much does it cost per session and can I just send a deposit?

Each session is $500.00. To receive a discount and pay only $475.00 per session, full payment must be received by April 1st. A minimum deposit of $250 will hold your spot towards the cost of $500.00 per session. The balance must be paid in full by June 1st.

2. If my child attends for all four weeks will there be any duplication in the program?

Your child will not be bored, each session complements the other. All projects are novel and offer a chance to learn new skills. We recommend attending all four weeks in order to see our long term projects through to fruition.

3. Is there aftercare?

No aftercare is offered. Pick up time is 4:00 PM everyday.

4. What about snack?

Workshop in the woods provides morning juice at 10:30AM and ice pops in the afternoon. There is a bubbler available during the day. All snacks and lunches are brought from home. Please note: do not send products which contain nuts as some children have severe nut allergies.

5. Can I request that my child be placed in a group with a friend?

Yes, if they are in the same age group. Everyone is assigned to groups according to age.

6. Are swimming and water sports available?

Workshop in the Woods has a beautiful waterfront on Baldpate Pond. We use this lake for fishing, nature study, and canoeing. The Georgetown Conservation Commission does not permit swimming. Water "sports" at Workshop in the Woods include water bottle rockets, dodging water balloons and watering the plants.

7. How are children grouped and what is the child/intern ratio?

Children are grouped according to age; boys and girls together. An average group has 20 children. There are 4 - 5 interns for each group who travel with the group throughout the day and stay with the group at the Workshop activities.

At each Workshop there is an adult Specialist accompanied by one or two Interns. This creates a ratio of 2 or 3 children to every intern. We have a large and experienced staff.

The Workshop Specialists are teachers in public schools or have 5 or more years experience working with children. All of our Senior Interns are returning from last years program. We have a multi-session training and orientation for Workshop in the Woods interns.

8. What are the hours for the program?

Program hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

9. Can I get a refund if I change my plans?

$250.00 (deposit) will be retained and not returned in the case of complete cancellation of registrations received for 2008.

There are no refunds for missed days during the sessions.

10. Is Workshop in the Woods a Camp?

No, Workshop in the Woods is not a camp. We are a site specific enrichment program created in partnership with the Georgetown Conservation Commission and Friends of Camp Denison with goals to teach the next generation to care and keep Camp Denison; secure, respected, and treasured. Workshop in the Woods is now a summer time tradition for a generation.

It is one of many, year round, high quality, unique and creative programs offered to student to enrich education and the quality of life offered by Director: Stacey Fix.

11. Is there an Open House?

There is no formal open house event for Workshop in the Woods.

However, Camp Denison is open to the public for you to visit.
